WE SOURCE FROM THE BEST SUPPLIERS AROUND THE GLOBE
This is the most common construction used for surfboards. We use Polyurethane (PU) Core Industries Foam blanks with plywood stringers. For stock boards we glass using a polyester resin with 2 x layers of 4oz fibre glass on the deck, and 1 x layer of 4oz fibre glass on the bottom.
The different glassing weights we offer on PU boards are;
Team – 1 x 4oz layer of fibreglass on the deck, 1 x 4oz layer of fibreglass on the bottom. We add a cloth toe patch under the back foot for added strength, whilst ensuring the lightest weight.
Regular – 2 x 4oz layers of fibreglass on the deck, 1 x 4oz layer of fibreglass on the bottom.
Strong – 1 x 6oz & 1 x 4oz layer of fibreglass on the deck, 1 x 4oz layer of fibreglass on the bottom.
Strong – 1 x 6oz & 1 x 4oz layer of fibreglass on the deck, 1 x 4oz layer of fibreglass on the bottom.
We offer the carbon kit for our PU boards to provide extra strength, durability and longevity for our boards. Plus it makes the boards look like sex! With the carbon kit we give the board a carbon fire stringer and also carbon fibre tail patches.
The carbon stringer stiffens the strength and flex of the board. The addition of a carbon stringer and stiffening the board means that the board will retain strength and flex longer, thus giving the board extra life.
Carbon tail patches again add that extra beef needed to create more longevity for your board. By giving the tail that extra strength under your back foot it helps prevent the tail from crushing.
Hyperflex is our own in-house designed epoxy board technology. Hyperflex are the lightest, fastest and most responsive boards on the market, and they are really really hard to snap (we almost guarantee that you can’t snap them). Traditionally there has been a trade off between flexibility and durability, but with Hyperflex you get the best of both world. Because of the strength that the carbon fibre stringer provides we are able to use less cloth during construction, resulting in the boards being the lightest available. What all this means to you is that Hyperflex boards will be faster and more responsive than other board.
Ever used an epoxy? They absolutely fly (due to the light weight) and you feel as though there is a spring in the board when you turn (due to the increased flexibility). But the draw back of epoxy boards is that the light weight means that the boards have a tendency to ‘chatter’ in larger waves and on windy days. However, when the conditions are right there’s no doubt that epoxy boards offer a super fun surf that PU boards can’t match. Typically the ideal conditions for Hyperflex boards would be clean 1-5ft waves with little to no wind.
We offer all our board models in Hyperflex.
